Key Workers

Every young person has two Key Workers who will be identified during the admission process. Their role is one of co-ordination and advocacy, becoming familiar with the young person, their likes, dislikes, hopes and aspirations. Additionally, the Key Worker will be responsible for completing specific tasks such as the practical life skills programme, individual therapeutic work, completing records and reports in relation to LAC and Statutory Annual reviews.

Key Workers work closely with parents, carers, significant others and other professionals. It is the quality of this communication which will underpin much of our work with young people and their families. The Key Worker also regularly assesses the young person for whom they are Key Worker to monitor changes, advise, seek the young person’s opinions and communicate current issues to the staff team seeking advice when necessary.

The Key Worker role is a crucial one. Witherslack Care & Education Initiatives places great emphasis upon maintaining positive relationships with parents, carers, significant individuals and placing authorities.
